Angola and Mozambique: Asset Recovery Workshop Programme (Online)

In September and October 2024, CiFAR is running an Asset Recovery Workshop Programme (online) designed to support civil society in Angola and Mozambique, in cooperation with local partners: Fórum de Monitoria do Orçamento, Centro de Integridade Pública, Associação OMUNGA, Pro Bono Angola, Associação Mãos Livres e UYELE, Associação Cívica.

Asset recovery is a complex and time-consuming exercise, requiring civil society to understand the underlying complexities in each scenario and carefully assess the best approach to assist and monitor the State in both investigating stolen assets and managing returned assets.

Thus, the programme end goal is that Civil Society Organizations, Activists, Journalists, Community Leaders and other interested stakeholders in these two countries (and beyond) are able to monitor the social impact of the asset recovery efforts undertaken by their governments, and this way contribute significantly to the promotion of integrity, the fight against corruption and sustainable development.

What to expect?

By attending CiFAR’s Asset Recovery Workshop Programme, participants will:

  1. access quality content related to asset recovery, increasingly recognised as a crucial area for an effective fight against corruption, delivered by experienced international and local experts;
  2. have an opportunity to learn from and share expertise with local and international partner organisations;
  3. gain hands-on experience of investigating corruption and building effective coalitions to advocate for change;
  4. be able to identify opportunities for citizen engagement about asset recovery in the country.

How to attend?

Participants are not required to register in advance to attend the workshops, but will need to have a valid Zoom account to join in.
